uPVC windows cost, explained honestly

uPVC windows cost is set by size, how many sections open, glazing, colour and extras — not by a salesperson’s quote. The from-prices below come from the same factory engine that prices your design today.

uPVC windowsMade to measure windowsWindow coloursDouble vs triple glazing

As a floor: our smallest picture window (fixed) starts from £17.70 today, supply only. From there, price scales with what the factory actually uses — frame metres, glass area and hardware.

The five cost drivers, in order

  • Size — the frame is priced per metre of profile and the glass per square metre, so cost grows steadily with dimensions, not in steps
  • Openers — each opening sash adds sash profile, hinges, multi-point locking and a handle; a fixed pane is always the cheapest section
  • Glazing — toughened, laminated and triple units carry per-square-metre uplifts over the standard A-rated double unit; obscure patterns add a little more
  • Colour — foiled colours price per metre of profile, one side or both; white is the base
  • Extras — cills (85–225mm) and frame extenders price per metre; trickle vents per opener

Why quotes for 'the same window' vary so much

Installed quotes bundle the window with survey, fitting, disposal, commission and company overhead — which is why three installers can quote three very different prices on one house. A supply-only price is just the manufactured window: what you see here is the factory sell price, and the fitting is whatever your local tradesperson charges for the labour. Comparing like-for-like means comparing the specification: system, glazing unit, colour and hardware.

Where the money goes in the frame

Roughly speaking, a window is profile, glass and hardware. The outer frame runs the perimeter; every opener adds its own sash perimeter inside it; mullions and transoms divide sections. Glass is priced by area with a minimum per pane, which is why several small panes cost more than one big pane of the same total area. Hardware is per opener. Our designer prices all of it live, so the fastest way to understand your window's cost is to build it and toggle the options.
