Why our black is Blackbrown

A pure black foil would absorb enough solar heat to risk distorting the profile. Blackbrown is near-black with a hint of brown. It reads as black on the elevation, and it's the black used across the foil industry for exactly this reason.

So if you want black windows, choose Blackbrown in the designer's frame colours. We offer the eight standard foil colours and don't spray custom RAL colours, so we can't make windows in a jet black such as RAL 9005.

If you'd like a dark frame that isn't black, Anthracite Grey is the dark blue-grey alternative.

Black window prices compared with white

Here are five popular layouts at typical sizes, priced today in white, in Blackbrown outside with a white inside, and in Blackbrown on both sides.

Prices include VAT and are supply only. Delivery is extra, priced by distance (from £30). Sizes are overall width × height, including the cill. Each price uses the options the designer starts with (28mm double glazing, a 150mm cill, trickle vents where they fit, white handles and the standard espag lock) and comes from the same pricing as the designer, so you'll see the same figure there.

Because the foil is charged per metre of frame, sash, mullion and transom, the extra grows with the window: £35.82 on the 600 × 900mm Full Side Opener, £87.15 on the 1800 × 1200mm Triple: Side / Fixed / Side.

Black outside, white inside — or black both sides?

A colour outside with a white inside is the most popular choice. The room side stays bright, it matches white interior joinery, and it costs less than foiling both faces: the 1200 × 1200mm Classic Combination is £404.70 black outside and £526.42 black both sides. It's what the designer sets as soon as you pick Blackbrown for the outside.

Choose "Same as external" for the inside if you want black frames in the room as well. Handles come in five finishes: white, black, polished chrome, gold and satin. Black is the natural pick on black frames, while chrome, gold and satin suit any colour — see window handles.

Matching black doors

Our uPVC doors use the same Eurologik 70mm profile as the windows and come in the same colours, Blackbrown included, so a front or back door can match your windows from the same designer. Composite doors are Comp Door slabs with their own colour chart, and the outer frame is available in matching colours. uPVC doors typically take 5–14 working days; composite doors take 15–25 working days.

Do black uPVC windows fade?

The colour is a factory-applied foil, not paint: a UV-stable, exterior-grade laminate developed for decades of weathering.

Can I have black outside and white inside?

Yes. That's what the designer sets when you choose Blackbrown for the outside, and it's cheaper than black both sides. Switch the inside to "Same as external" if you want black on both faces.

Can you make windows in RAL 9005 jet black?

No. We offer the eight standard foil colours and don't spray custom RAL colours. Blackbrown is our black.

Can I get a black door to match my windows?
