Glazing sealed units: a short guide

Our sealed glass units arrive separately from the frames. A few simple habits when you put the glass in keep every unit safe.

Check every unit first

  • Check every sealed unit, and every frame, before you sign for them or collect them
  • Report any damage, defects or missing items in writing within 48 hours of delivery, with photos of the damage and the product labels, to sales@newupvcwindows.co.uk.

Putting the glass in

  • Sit the unit on glazing packers under its bottom edge, never straight on the uPVC
  • Never force a unit in. If it feels tight, lift it out and check the packers
  • Never force a glazing bead in. Locate the ends first, then tap it home gently

The label goes on the outside

There's no protective film on our glass. Each unit has just one small label, and the label goes on the outside face of the glass. Peel the label off after glazing.

What isn't covered

Glass that cracks after it has been glazed in isn't covered. That's usually because the right packers weren't under the bottom edge, or the unit or beads were forced in too tightly. See our terms of sale for the full details.
